iLiveMath Animals of Africa - available on iTunes

[prMac.com] Sacramento, California - iHomeEducator today is pleased to announce the release of iLiveMath Animals Of Africa 1.1, a new collaborative educational math and zoology app for Apple's iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. "iLiveMath Animals of Africa" is the first in a series of innovative word problem applications. "iLiveMath Winter Sports" is currently in review and "iLiveMath Animals of Asia" is in development for launch in the Year of the Tiger.

Each app in the series will focus on different themes such as animals, countries, special events, and fun topics which will blend math with the world. Going beyond math equations and flash cards, iLiveMath will test students with illustrative questions. Students will be challenged with their applied math skills. This first app will test different levels of addition, subtraction, multiplication, percents, and order of operations as well as build a student's confidence in completing word problems.

"iLiveMath Animals of Africa" brings math to life by describing a group of animals as a coalition of cheetahs, parade of elephants, or a dazzle of zebras. There are 26 animal types from Africa (additional updates will include more African animals and problems). The app automatically generates over one million possible combinations of questions.

Three levels of difficulty can be configured to help students from first through sixth grade as they move through different operations and challenge the student with equations from single digit to triple digits.

The app also includes social networking features that support collaborative learning. Educators and students can track and review test results through email and blogs which automatically tally correct, incorrect, and unanswered counts and percentages.

iLiveMath app series follows the MathSpinK, 1, 2, and 3 series, launched November 2009, which takes users through a whirlwind of spinners to learn counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and inequalities. The MathSpin1 app was enhanced with Chinese and Mayan numbers to blend world culture with mathematics.

Karin Piper, Charter Schools Examiner, writes "The cool mobile applications were developed by this mom and dad team while teaching their own children math concepts. It was just a matter of time before word got out about the product and requests started pouring in by learning hungry customers... Today, the couple's 11 year old is the organization's Quality Assurance Engineer, and has the fine job of testing the product and developing new ideas. The younger siblings, ages 4 and 5, represent the end-users as testers of the products. It is safe to say these youngsters are learning more than math skills by being involved in the family's joint business and education venture."

Arlene Lee, co-founder and Chief Mom, said, "As a parent and educator of three young children, we strive and have carefully developed mobile applications based upon the child's grade level and interests. We've seen our own children benefit a great deal and we hope that our applications will help your children find learning to be new and fun as well!"

iLiveMath Key Differentiators

iLive Series Key Differentiators:

  • Automated Grading: Teachers and Parents use auto-generated email and blogs to keep track of student progress.  Examples of recorded grammar app tests and math app tests show how questions are randomly compiled and how the test captures the student's correct, incorrect answers, the final percentage/count scores, and answer key.
  • Universal Apps: Most all of the educational apps for the iPad also run on the iPhone and iPod Touch as universal apps however we are starting to experiment with dedicated Educational iPad Apps which will allow us to maximize the features and functions of the iPad.

Quote from Teacher

iLiveMath Animals of Asia

math app

I wanted to share iLiveMath with my students at school, but did not want to give them access to my iPad. My school has a Promethean Board so after collaborating with iHomeEducator we can now share the teaching content with all my kids using the projector! I teach several units wrapped around the theme of a continent. At this time we are studying Asia and have iLiveMath Animals of Asia as well as Entomology."

It is my hope that in the coming months, that a team of teachers and I will write a grant with the intent of getting iPads in our school. It is my mission to find appropriate applications that can be implemented to teach, reinforce and guide those struggling learners. I believe I have found it in iHomeEducator. I have to iLove this application and intend to share it with my colleagues.
